India Maoists set new terms for talks

A senior leader of India's Maoist rebels has said that the government will have to declare a "simultaneous" ceasefire in order to enable talks between the two sides.
India security operation against rebelsKoteswara Rao said this was the government's last "chance for peace".
India has launched a security operation against rebelsIndia has asked the rebels in the past to unilaterally declare a 72-hour ceasefire to enable talks.
PM Manmohan Singh has described the Maoist insurgency as India's biggest internal security challenge.
India's Home Minister P Chidambaram has said that in order for the government to initiate a peace process with the Maoists, they must stop violent activities for 72 hours after which time the security forces will "not conduct any operations" against them.
He has said that the central government will then consult the "chief ministers of the affected states" to invite the Maoists to hold peace talks.
But rebel military wing chief Koteswara Rao alias Kishenji told the BBC that this was "not acceptable".
"Both sides must stop hostilities at the same time," he said.
Mr Rao also said the government will have to finalise the names of the mediators for the talks after "open discussions" with the Maoists.
'Punish'
He said the government should "punish" police and intelligence officials who the rebels believe are responsible for killing Maoist leader Cherukuri Rajkumar, commonly known as Azad.
The police said Azad was killed in a gunfight in Adilabad district in Andhra Pradesh in July. He was number two in the rebel hierarchy in the state and a spokesman for the Maoists.
The Maoists, also known as Naxalites, say they are fighting for the rights of rural poor who have been neglected by the government for decades.

Dilshan suggested Randiv to bowl no ball: Report

It was Sri Lankan batsman Tillakaratne Dilshan who suggested off-spinner Suraj Randiv to bowl a no ball to deny Indian opener Virender Sehwag his century during Monday's controversial tri-series match here, according a newspaper report.
Sri Lanka Cricket, which has ordered an internal probe into the no-ball controversy, is yet to make it report official but according to The Island it was Dilshan who suggested Randiv to bowl a no ball at the fag end of the match which India won by six wickets.
With the scores levelled, Randiv bowled a no ball to deny Sehwag a hundred and the ploy was condemned by everyone as it was not within the spirit of the game. Sehwag was left stranded on 99 though he hit the no ball for a six.
According to the newspaper, Dilshan, who was fielding at cover point, shouted in Sinhalese 'oney nam, no ball ekak danna puluwan' (if you want, you can bowl a no ball).
None of the Sri Lankan players reacted to Dilshan's advice to bowl the no ball, the report said.
At the post match press conference, captain Kumar Sangakkara had given indication that someone may have suggested to Randiv to bowl the no ball.
"If it was deliberate, I will have to have a chat to him (Suraj) and make sure it does not happen again. I will have to see also whether there was any talk about it on the field, prior to that delivery," Sangakkara had said.
Sangakkara also came under the scanner as he was heard instructing Randiv in Sinhalese "If he hits the ball, he gets the run" after Sri Lanka Cricket examined stump microphone audios to determine whether any player had played a role in coaxing Randiv to bowl a 'no-ball'.
Dilshan, who was the captain of the Sri Lankan side in a tri-nation series in Zimbabwe this year after senior players including Sangakkara was rested, is incidentally Sehwag's team-mate at the Indian Premier League side Delhi Daredevils.
Embarrassed by the controversial incident, Sri Lanka Cricket yesterday initiated an inquiry under team manager Anura Tennekoon even as Randiv and top SLC officials offered apologies to calm the furore.
The apologies prompted the Indian team management to declare the episode a "closed chapter" while the BCCI also made it clear that it would not pursue the case any further.

The PSBB School in Nungambakkam was established in 1958 by a group of housewives of the Nungambakkam Ladies Recreation Club. There were 13 students in a thatched shed on the terrace of the residence of the Dean and Director of the school, Dr. (Mrs.) Y.G. Parthasarathy.Today the school has six branches (including PSBB Millenium) with over 8000 students and 500 staff members.
One year after its inception, in 1959, the school shifted to a campus of its own at the present premises in Nungambakkam. It followed the Madras Matriculation System unit of Madras University. As the school grew in strength, the need to extend its branches arose and thus emerged the T.P.Road Junior School in 1971, as an annex to the school in Nungambakkam. In 1978, this school was affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi.
In 1976 another branch of the PSBB School, affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, was started in a residential area of K.K.Nagar with 5-acre (20,000 m2) surroundings. The K.K. Nagar Branch had four sections of every class from Pre-KG to Std. X. Today it has 5000 students with ten sections in each of these classes. Standards XI and XII have seven sections each. Mrs Chandra Srinivasan, a 40-year veteran of the school, is the Advisor for Academics for PSBB. PSBB was compelled to adopt the CBSE educational system in the 1970s and 1980s to satisfy the growing demands of the residents of the city.
PSBB has been visited by (former) President of India A.P.J.Abdul Kalam.
